Small band, big sound.

Founded in the fall of 2018, Gretchen and the Sidecar Six is an authentic swing band based in Washington, DC. Specially designed to play for swing dancers, the Sidecar Six features two horns and a full four-piece rhythm section, led by vocalist Gretchen Midgley. Featuring both true transcriptions and original arrangements by renowned reed player and arranger Scott Silbert, the band’s repertoire pulls heavily from the books of Artie Shaw, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Anita O’Day, Harry James, Mildred Bailey, Midge Williams, and other greats of the 1930s and 40s.
